At the October 13, 2009 Board of Directors’ meeting, The Foundation to Inspire Excellence in Nyack Schools, Inc. presented six checks totaling $6,000.00 to the PTA Presidents from each of the Nyack Public schools.
“With the generous donations we received as a result of our hugely successful Casino Night last February, the Board of Inspire Nyack wanted to lend a hand to some of the organizations that may have been impacted by the current economic climate. We thought that the best way to do it would be to support the six PTAs in our district as they are part of the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation and they continue to bring valuable resources to each of our schools.” said Dan Juechter, Inspire Nyack’s President.
The PTA Presidents from each of the schools in the Nyack District (Upper Nyack Elementary, Liberty Elementary, Valley Cottage Elementary, the Nyack Middle School, Nyack Schools Special Education and the Nyack High School) were invited to attend an Inspire Nyack Board meeting yet did not know the purpose of the October 13th gathering until they arrived. They were all greatly appreciative of this across the board support of the district’s PTAs.
“On behalf of all the children at Valley Cottage Elementary School, we want to thank The Foundation to Inspire Excellence in Nyack Schools Inc., for their generous donation. They are truly a champion of children by doing the work they do for all the children in the Nyack School District. It is greatly appreciated and will be put to good use by all of the children at Valley Cottage Elementary.” noted Arlene Sirotko, co-president of the Valley Cottage Elementary PTA.
Cynthia Sampogna from the Nyack Middle School PTA agreed. “We would like to thank the Foundation to Inspire Excellence in Nyack Schools for their support of all the students. Your $1000.00 donation to our organization is very much needed to help support our middle school students. The small funds we raise per year support very few programs we have for the students and with this gift we will be able to add a couple more fun and educational programs for our students. Many thanks!”
Lori Barth, President of the Special Education PTA, “We’re really excited about how we can use this unexpected windfall to benefit some special education students. Your hard work means a lot. If enrichment or special services cannot be provided by the parents mostly kids go without. The robotics program (which Inspire Nyack helps to support) is ingenious.”
“On behalf of the Liberty Elementary PTA, we would like to thank The Foundation to Inspire Excellence in Nyack Schools for their generous gift. This foundation proves what can happen when a community comes together and we thank you for your support.” added Heather Haera, Liberty Elementary PTA President.
Proceeds from February’s Casino Night also allowed Inspire Nyack to donate $70,000 to the District to support and accelerate the innovative robotics program. The addition of this $6,000 contribution makes a total of $116,000 donated from Inspire Nyack in the last two years.
Inspire Nyack will be holding its 3rd Annual Casino Night on Saturday, February 27, 2010. All details surrounding this popular and fun event, including tickets and sponsorship opportunities, can be found at www.inspirenyack.org.
